While watching a YouTube video today my computer started to show the usual Flash symptoms. The system fan sounded like it was taking off and the CPU usage was going through the roof, it also began to heat up to the point where I could not have it on my lap.
For some reason Spotlight was not including some files in its search results. To fix this I wanted to re-index the whole drive, here’s how:
Open Terminal.app and type:
mdutil -E /
Update: Following a recent update iTunes and the AirPort get on a lot better.
It has been a while since I’ve splashed out on any new gadgets, so I convinced myself that what I needed was an AirPort Express to wirelessly stream music to some speakers I have in my living room. Sadly however it was not quite so simple.
This is just a quick post to shout about a great feature in Safari (and OS X 1.5) that I have just found.
Recently the BBC have launched the iPlayer. This is a service which allows people to watch TV programs or listen to radio shows from that last 7 days again on their computer as many times as they like. That is unless they have a Mac.
Well it did arrive after all. My update was not totally strait forward however so just incase it happens to anyone else here is how I dealt with it.
There have been a load of updates recently for various apple software products; iPhoto, QuickTime all the iWork apps and some of the pro level apps have all had updates.
Preparation for OS X 10.5.2 perhaps?
Apple has touted the release of Leopard by boasting that it includes 300 new features over Tiger, the previous version of the OS. There are however two tiny little improvements that were not talked about anywhere and have answered my prayers by making it even easer to use by polishing the Mail and Finder application.
